today's confused amble across the internet brought me to "OOF#37", a lovely podcast snapshot from a man on a journey.
i posted a comment, which i will re-post here because it crystalizes something i've been thinking about. my thanks to craig bob for a thoughtful podcast and space to help me my my journey
not sure i agree with thinking of re-construction as something you do after de-construction
we are all rookies, and i know nothing either
but what i understand is that heart of a deconstructive gesture is not to tear things apart. deconstruction is not “destruction” or “unconstruction”
deconstruction has more to do with revealing flaws inherent in constructed understandings. i believe derrida says that everything carry the seeds of its own deconstruction. deconstruction is more about shining light in the basement than it is about blowing things up.
and so the thing which follows deconstruction is not a re-construction, but a continued walk among the still standing structures, with a different realtionship and trust in them.
and i would argue … a search to find something to trust in … and this is a search which is a very very good one to be on. the people i trust are the ones who have the good questions.
the only thing we ought to be “post” is “post post” i am over getting over things. i still use a foundationalist approach every time i read the bible. i just no longer trust that foundationalist framework to save me from all error.
I'm not so familiar with all your terminology, but I definitely follow and like this line - "deconstruction is more about shining light in the basement than it is about blowing things up."
