how to write poetry
the first step in writing a poem
is thinking of something you care about
otherwise why wrestle with lines and language
the second step is usually
trying to think of something ELSE you care about
because no way are you writing about that
the third step is writing, searching
maybe at least a poem is in there somewhere
about being afaid to write about the thing you care about
the fourth step is "select all"
and pressing rectangular button on your keyboard
labled delete
repeat steps one through four
until there are no more of those kinds of poems
and the page is now frighteningly blank
there is nothing to write about, there is only writing,
a strange travelling, your cares are now on the page
when moments ago they were trapped inside you
